My Navman N40i won't boot up.

It gets stuck at the "Navman Ultimate Navigation N40i" screen and doesn't get as far as the "loading maps" bar in the boot up sequence.

once stuck it won't even switch off using the push button switch on the top. I've tried re-booting using the slider reste i/o switch at the bottom. I've also left it on to completely discharge and tried rebooting but keep getting the same result.

Has anyone on here got any ideas of how to fix this please?

Now fixed

Just in case anyone else has the same issue I followed advice from Navman Mio tech support which partially fixed the fault although my N40 worked after following the procedure below it had then no voice guidance. I traced this to the voice folder on the unit being empty but fortunately my wife's got an N20 and I managed to copy the missing voice files from this via the PC and all is now fully working!

Any way process received from Navman tech support was:-

Remove the software from your computer by going to Start-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs - and remove the Navman software.

Then go to My Computer -Hard Disk C- Program files- and delete the Navman folder and then reinstall SmartST on to your PC.

1. Connect your ICN to your PC
2. Right click on the ActiveSync icon on the bottom right corner of the screen, select explore
3. Click on Program Files Navman and delete the folder (Navman)
4. When the folder is deleted, disconnect the USB cable
5. Place the battery switch on Off, and then back on.
6. When the ICN displays the USB screen, connect it to your PC
7. Open up SmartST Desktop and follow the instructions on the screen to get the software reinstalled.
8. Click on Tools - Recover information

Thanks for posting the procedure - Navman / Mio DESKTOP software is a little clunky but usually able to sort out any unit problems eventually!

Just got myself a 7" Navman Panoramic for £99, and as far as route choice, detail of voice guidance and clarity of instruction goes beats my newer and usually much more expensive Garmins, TomToms and Navigons handsdown!
