Sorry if asked before but i couldn't find it using the search - i am in Germany this Friday and will need Telmap 5 to get me to my interview!!

Thing is, data plans abroad are pretty hefty so is there a way i can download the maps so that i don't have to use too much data? Or, is there a way to minimize data use (as i guess turn by turn needs to download the most up to date stuff like traffic etc) to keep it to absolute minimum?

Any help would be great Smile

Hi Dass,
Telmap5 is fully off-board which means that all route requests require a server connection via the mobile network - and we currently don't have a way to pre-plan and store routes.
I can however offer the following hints.
Telmap5 downloads the complete route with the initial request - so if you hit "Drive" within your home network then the complete route will be downloaded within your home network and you won't pay any roaming charges - even if you make a wrong turn - the initial route download includes any corrections to get you to your destination. Of course if you make several wrong turns then a new route request will have to go out.

Even if you DO have to access the network while roaming - the route download is no more than a few hundred KB - And dynamic data such as traffic information is also very small - - so even while roaming it shouldn't cost more than a few Euro.

Hope that helps.
Tks

That's great, and i did that already but wasn't sure if it meant it was actually stored. Good to know, and also good to know if it does download maps that it isn't eating too much of of my data plan. Cheers! Very Happy
