Hi,

I am a fairly high distance driver (circa 30k pa) and currently have a TT720 with RDS traffic receiver. It is installed with W&CE Europe Maps V 845.2645

I need UK and Western Europe.

My question really revolves around the traffic. Is TT live worth upgrading my older unit with older maps for a newer 'live' model?

I've always been happy with TT as I like the way you can re-route and see the new route you are taking (I don't think Garmin used to do that but it might now) and I like the route algorithm. IS it worth looking at other makes?

Thanks

PS - I neve use BT, Hands Free, Music or any of that in a PND. I've thought about using my phone as a nav device but it's a BlackBerry and nav programs are limited.

One thing I MUST be able to do is use the PGPS speed cameras and POI's

I run a 550 Live alongside my 520 RDS-TMC.

The Live Traffic is superior to RDS-TMC (apart from the fact that recently TT have decided to only show up to 50 miles ahead in the Live traffic even if there's more ahead). The x20 RDS-TMC is also inferior to the RDS-TMC in my built-in TT Carminat.

I'd recommend the 750 Live for traffic (and Google search too, terrific - search for a postcode and it'll list all the businesses at that location AND you can then Navigate to one of them too). But DO get a 4GB SDHC card for it to store the map, as the internal memory is no longer big enough for the complete Europe map.

One problem I have with the x50 is the dreadfully slow screen draw rate - I like to look at the overall map summary view to get the idea of where it's going (e.g. doglegs or straightlines) and this is one big reason why I keep the 520, which draws the route very quickly when I "Browse Map" - the 550 is at it for ages when all I want is a quick look! (So keep the 720 and do as I do, running two side by side - you won't see a huge difference between the maps)

Most pleased with Live on my 750.
Last summer this was a great help while touring France many times-

Just before I was to tow caravan back home I got a puncture and had to put on emergency spare wheel. The campsite sent me to a garage where the mechanic could not speak English and tried to sell me a tyre at a price I thought was for two and charged me for his time looking at tyre 35 euros!!
Got back into car and typed tyre into google which cleverly converted to French. I then chose nearest tyre specialist, used BT call to check price and then navigated straight to open door where the the staff were waiting. Just wished I'd listened to my wife and used TT live the first time!
