Oh Dear, I just updated my Garmin 1495T to v5.00. Now it's broken.
No sounds, no voices, no even any beeps. Tried a Factory reset and reloaded via Webupdater. It could be a faulty unit but it was fine till I updated. Has anybody else had this?
This machine also had trouble doing a map update a while ago.
It was very complex to upgrade the maps and it should have been simple.
Plus the map drawing is still rubbish.
I think there is problems with the 1490T's. Possibly not enough memory?
Had I known Google Maps on HTC was going to get so good, I never would have purchased this. _________________ |/

I have updated my 1490 to version 5,but have not had the problems you have had.Try the full reset by holding the screen in the bottom right hand corner when you turn on it asks if you want to do a reset just hit the yes,
See what happens after that.
as for the map up date and application update no problem at all,I use mine when at work in the taxi and no problems with the map drawing. _________________ Square2024

I have tried the factory reset. I have also tried reloading using Webupdater rather than MyDashboard.
As for updating the maps, this required manually deleting files. Not the sort of thing you would expect to have to do.
I am still waiting for a reply from Garmin but it looks like I will have to send it off then.
Maybe there are variants in this model. Perhaps the replacement will take less than 10 seconds to refresh the screen! If an HTC Wildfire can smoothly redraw maps, why can't this as a dedicated unit? _________________ |/

What I still cannot fault is Garmin's support.
It is responsive and pleasant to deal with.
No argument, just a few checks and then told how to send it back.
If found faulty a new one will be sent complete with new warranty.
You don't get this service elsewhere. _________________ |/
