It all depends on what your interpretation of imminent is. Mine is 6-12 months We will be meeting up with ALK over the next few days at the motorshow but will probably be subject to NDA. |

I suspect I'm the guilty party here, I used the term 'imminent' It's in development and I jumped the gun a bit by suggesting it was due sooner than it actually is, for that I apologise. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No worries! Nice to know that a superior (hopefully!) alternative to TTN3 will be available in the not too distant future.
Cheers

We can't talk about CP5 (if it exists) as we are under NDA, but what I can tell you is the next version you'll see hit the stores is going to be sweet and well worth the wait! |

If you live in the US and are receiving the MobilePlanet junk mail then you can already have a sneak preview of v5 ... _________________ Lutz

Well we can't say so you'll have to wait and see but we are unbiased and you'll get our opinions good or bad _________________ Darren Griffin |

Not so. To be in the business we're in, reviewing the latest products, we need to get previews, featurette's and demo's before they hit the public market. Some companies allow this, some don't. The ones that do, we try to work with to not only let them know of problems we have found prior to release but also to enable us to write a review so it's available for when the product is publically released. To be able to do this, we have to sign NDA's (Non Disclosure Agreements) which means we will not report what we are given until a product has either gone to public release or until we are allowed to report on it, and even then anything that is considered sensative must remain that way and not published. When I say report on it, I mean things like the product, features, inner workings, release dates etc.
As Darren said we are unbiased, we work with a lot of GPS companies, both in the alpha/beta stages but also to write unbiased reviews of their products to let you know what we really feel about a product. If there are things we don't like about a product, the company is informed, and we also post it in our reviews. So you do get our honest opinions no matter which hardware, software or GPS company we are reviewing products from, you get the good and bad opinions from us. |

What sort of wait would we be looking at if you were to try and estimate a timescale
1 month :D
2 months
3-6 months
12 months plus :o |

I had to Call ALK tech the other day on an unrelated matter. Spoke to them and asked "The Question" and was told the end of the year before any update. Don't know if this helps or if was an off the cuff remark. Dave please gives us a clue. |
