|
|
Hi there,
I am a new subscriber and have been thrilled with the ease of use of the database on my TomTom Go 730. The video download instructions worked well for a non-techy like me.
Now my husband wants to use the database on his Talex Lite. Yes, we are both aware of Mr Blair and all the issues reported, but it is neat and simple device. We just do not want to subscribe to Talex any longer.
Please can someone let us know whether there is any way to download the PocketGPSWorld database on the the Talex?
Thank you
Jill |

It's not possible. The proprietary format has not been deciphered and we have no way of producing a version that is compatible. _________________ Darren Griffin |

But that won't allow the use of our database which was the question here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

True but as you have already stated that your database is not compatible, I was just letting the OP know that it is still possible to update the unit without having to maintain a Talex subscription. |

That's as maybe, but their data is of unknown heritage and verifiably poor accuracy. _________________ Darren Griffin |

How true!
My 'Talex' database does seem to be accurate for the cameras I pass but it's the unknown ones that can catch you out if you do accidentally overstep the mark.
I'm now considering a basic Nuvi 1310 as a SCD. Just need to find a suitable active mount. _________________ DashCam:

I can't comment on the accuracy of their data, but they do seem to be making regular updates now (7 for April) and have a web page for notifying new sites/changes. |

Talex decided to end my one year subscription after 4 years so I started using the Novus one.
In a very short time I found missing cameras so I quickly switched to a SatNav device and started using this database. far more accurate.
Most worrying with the Novus database was a non warning of the Specs cameras on the M3 near the M25. They had been there quite a while but I got no warning at all !!! _________________ DashCam:
