|
|
As some of the more observant will note, things are changing with our site layout.
The process will take some days to complete and so the final layout will not be apparent until it is finished.
We're moving to a two-column layout to give us more space for content and we will be sorting the site navigation to make it simpler and more straight-forward.
The top navigation menu will be simplified and a prominent log-in box will be available on all pages.
We're also planning to offer a large search box to the right of the PGPS Logo.
So please bear with us whilst we make the necessary changes, we need to tread carefully to ensure we don't break anything as we move through the changes! _________________ Darren Griffin

Hi, Darren
Real good job.
It gets better each time each time I switch from one forums to another.
Take Care

Could see it had changed even on the log-on screen.
Don't get me wrong, but I think the adds should be on the left. Only my personal feelings
EDIT When you post, to get back to the main forums again I always have to go to the drop down menu at the top of the page each time.
Is it not possible to have the menus on each page:

It's brilliant for checking for new posts on my mobile phone. Before, every page took an age to download, and I had to scroll through an expanded left-hand column in order to get to the content. Not any more! Thanks!
It also seems to load quicker on the pc, it looks far less cluttered, and the top navigation menu is more obvious.
Looking forward to seeing what further improvements you come up with. _________________ Anita

And everyone has their own opinion on this. We took advice which was, main content should always be the first column unless there is a navigation column.
As our smaller column is not navigation or anything else important, it is going on the right. It;s locked in now, so get used to it.

That is not an option in the version of phpBB that we use. But to get back to the forum index, why not just click the shortcut here:
Or you could do as I do, and have a Bookmark for 'PGPS New Posts' on my browser toolbar (or any other frequently used links). _________________ Darren Griffin |

I must say i am liking the new layout so far. Seems much 'crisper' and maybe it's me, but loads faster. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

yes, it should load faster. a big part of the delay in laoding was pulling up all the review and article categories etc for the expanding box on the left. |

Much better. It looks cleaner and loads quicker. What is there not to like about it? Techno-Thursdays Rule.
But.... How are you going to implement the macro that trawls through all the old posts which have replies advising people to "Click on the icon on the left/right ... etc? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

But we did use to have "View posts since last visit", didn't we? (in the "Forums" drop down at the very top)....

How do we create that now though, if there's nowhere to click? |
