You can help us identify the bugs in the application by sending us the crash logs. They are located on the SD card, under
/Android/data/com.pocketgpsworld.cameralert/files
Please send them to lutz at pocketgpsworld dot com
Thank you for your help! _________________ Lutz

I, along with a number of others, am experiencing continuous application shutdowns when attempting to do map zoom operations.
The reason for this post is that there appears to be no folder of that name on the sdcard of my HTC Desire 2.2, and therefore no application crash logs.
Is the path provided still current as of the date of this posting? If so, is there anything I have to do to allow for the capture of log information or should it be automatic?

The path is still the same. It looks like your crash is deeper down in the operating system, and our app doesn't get a chance to write a crash log to the SD card.
However, we are also getting these crash reports via the Android Market. Even though the Map Zoom issue (especially during zoom in) is rather common for Android we keep looking into options to reduce our memory usage (that's basically what's happening - zooming in uses too much memory). We explicitly do not blame the Android OS and the Dalvik VM for their boneheaded memory management and totally stupid garbage collection. _________________ Lutz

The app has crashed my Desire twice. Each time the phone crashes to the Android start page (White screen with HTC logo). Battery has to be removed to reset.
There is no crash log on the sd card.

The App has crashed every time I have tried to use it, It starts up looking at a zoomed out map of Tulsa in the US, when a GPS lock is achieved it doesn't move to my GB location. If I manually move the map to the UK and start zooming in, it crashes. I removed and reinstalled the app but it wont let me download the initial camera update again. |

Have you tried running the app in list only mode? What is your phone make and model? _________________ Lutz

How do I run it in List-only mode?
The phone is a Samsung Omnia B7610 (windows mobile 6.5) running an Android Eclair 1.1 conversion still in beta development! However, all other apps I've tried including Google maps navigation with streetview run fine.
I will forward the logs

Hi,
I have the same problem as Janner, the app runs fine for 5 to 10 minutes then crashes and locks the phone completely. The battery then needs to be removed before the phone will restart.
The problem is much worse when the power cable is attached as the phone locks almost immediately.
Unfortunatey I have not found the log on my 32gb sd card
If this problem can be resolved the app will be really great! |

I've now run this app 3 times without maps. It has crashed twice. Once after about 7 miles and once after 500yds.
I have found one crash report which I will forward to you. |

@janner,
looks like your on-device database file is corrupt. The quickest solution will be to go to Settings...Applications...Manage Applications, choose CamerAlert, and then press "Clear Data". (While you are there you can also move the app to SD card).
This will reinstall the database, and you'll then have to re-download the latest version from the server. Try not to interrupt the download process. _________________ Lutz

I did the above, the app worked the first time I tried it but has crashed each time since. |

Please update to application 1.2.7 - it allows you to send the crash logs directly. We need these crash logs to investigate the issue. _________________ Lutz

Updated to 1.2.7, installed latest db. It crashed within 50 yds of leaving home.
There is no crash log. |
