I subscribed to the map update service from Tom Tom. Can anyone tell me why it takes around 4 hours to download a new map over a perfectly decent broadband connection? More to the point, is there any way of speeding it up? |

The size of the download and the speed of your connection will affect how long it takes. As you have mentioned neither the size of the map or the speed of your connection I cant comment if 4 hours is good or bad.
It also possible that TT throttle connections when the servers are so more people can connect at the same time and still download. |

Well it's the Western Europe map and the connection is about 3MB. Throttleing might answer it. I can't imagine the file is that big! |

The Full WE map for the 740 is about 1.8Gb which used to take about 50 minutes on my old 10 Mbps Virgin Media Cable connection so 3.5 to 4 hours on a 3 Mbps connection sounds about right. You should be able to see the file size and speed under the download bar in TT Home.

Oh Well. Role on BT Infinity then! Guess I'll have to live with it for now. Thanks for very swift responses. |
