Can I confirm that they are no cameras in the gantries on this section. It's the section where the specs and the 50 limit used to be?
There is speed camera repeaters on each gantry. But there doesn't appear to be any cameras.
Could someone confirm this? |

Someone (or several) has submitted gantry cameras for verification - 50 of them, on every gantry and on most spaces in between! I studied them on my way back last Thursday and there are no cameras, no dummy cameras and no empty boxes either. Most gantries have funny bits of angle iron sticking out behind them, where a camera box might be placed, but there was nothing on them.
Unless there is some sort of new camera which is totally invisible.
My feeling was that if/when they decide to mount cameras there, it'll be a decent job of work as the gantries don't have any sort of walkway or grid base under that angle iron to catch any debris if anybody drops a bolt or a spanner, so it'll take a decent set of lane closures to put cameras up. I also thought that there is a nice move these days against fixed cameras, so although it was supposedly consulted upon, perhaps they'll decide not to have them after all? _________________ Dennis

You don't need the cameras when they plaster the signs on the front of the gantry. You have to slow just in case, its only when you pass under it becomes obvious they are not there. |

... unless of course you have the PGPSW database installed and you trust it when it doesn't sound an alert.
(and before anyone else chips in with it...
or you keep inside the limit anyway!) |
