Hi,

I'm feeling really stupid because I can't understand whether I should sign up (I want to) for the database and its updates.

I'm looking at the table at: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras#compatibility

and can't see the wood for the trees. I have a Tomtom XL IQ Routes Edition (read off the box!) will it work for me?

It's as simple as that really, it's not a senior moment - it's being going on too long!

Thanks for a simple answer if there is one.

David

Have another close look at the box. Is there a small "2" immediately after the "XL" ?

If the 2 is present, then you have one of the new versions with the simplified menus, and you won't be able to use the camera database properly - although I understand TomTom may be working on an update to this sometime in the future.

If the 2 is missing, then all should be OK - go ahead and sign up!

Hi Daggers, thanks for the quick reply. There's no little "2" after the XL but the invoice describes it as Tomtom XL v3 EU. Do you still think I'm OK?

OK it's looking hopeful. Now for the next question. Having copied all the *.ov2 and matching *.bmp files into my "Europe_West" folder, do I remove all the existing, Tomtom supplied, ov2s?
These are called safety camera, blitzer etc and what on earth are the files such as "Safety_Cam_UK_Tomtom.ov2.dct"? Should they also go, or, if left will all of these be fighting each other?

Sorry, that was supposed to be one question.

You can run both databases at the same time on the device with no ill effects, in fact doing this lets you work out which database is the better product.
If you have already decided on the above point then you can use Home to disable/ remove the errant files from the device - Mike

Thanks, Mike, any special reason for Home rather than Win Explorer? Have we met on the Hummy forum?

No idea what the "Hummy Forum" is so I doubt it??

As for removing files you can do it using Windows Explorer or TomTom Home, if you don't know what the files are called to start with Home is the easier option IMHO - Mike
