it must be just me, but i use my TomTom 940 GO at work in my van and in my fairly new car, both windscreens are clean, yet at least 2 or 3 times a day, the sat nav falls off the glass! its doing my head in!
WHY cant TomTom make a decent suction holder!!!
i have had 3 units now and they are all the bloody same, used to have Garmin and it never fell off, but their sat navs gave me a headache with freezing and restarting themselves.....aarrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh _________________ Wayne Harris (Pro Musician)

Hi Waynesters
Oh dear! You are having a bad day. However, when I first brought my device (720) that too used to fall from the screen on a regular basis. I eventually brought a different mount from another site and it has never fell off since.
But, the original should have worked ok, after all, I had paid for it. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Must be you!
Of all the different TomTom windscreen mounts I've used, the best by far has been the 940/950 one that you have.
I can honestly say, it has never fallen off once, something I cannot say about the Go300, 720, One or XL mounts I've used.
It gets regular daily use in two different cars and the occasional hired Transit van, with no problems at all. |

Must be your windscreen. Try a different (flatter) location.
I have the same holder on my 740, and it's the best and most secure of any PND I've had. |

So far I've had a Go500 and XL Live IQ Routes with easy port mount and have never had any problem with either of them. I have my old Go500 here with me so just tried attaching the suction cup to my desk and it's so strong I can pick the desk up with it and this is a seriously heavy wodden desk! |

Never had a problem with the same holder for my 740 in the 2-3 weeks i used it. Unlike my Garmin ones which used to jump at the first chance.
You are fully turning the collar through 90 degrees until it locks?
On a few occassions i've found it hard to remove the holder from the windscreen even after the collar is unlocked. |

Same here, never had my 940 fall off either of two windscreens (neither of which are cleaned that often). In fact it needs a damned good tug to release it. It couldn't be operator error by any chance? |

Have you considered the alternate mount for the x40/ x50 that screws to a Brodit Pro-Clip, these are far more secure as they don't rely on suction - Mike |

The only time my easy port mount for the XL LIVE has fallen off is because the suction cup had got dirt/grease on it from swapping between cars.
Have you tried using a microfibre cloth to clean both the suction cup and the area of the windscreen you are attaching to? |
