I've owned a Go910 for about 3years now and it's still on its original maps as it's not used very often it's never been much of a problem but I'm going to Italy so thought it would be wise to get the latest maps. It came with western/central europe and north America but I only wish to update the western and central europe. The western and central europe map is £69.95 on the TomTom site which seems expensive to me. Whats the best and cheapest way to update my maps, I've read you can buy the maps of Ebay etc but do they work or is TomTom original the best option. |

I don't think that's an option unless your map is fairly up to date, when I first started using the system my map was 6 months old so I only got 3 updates for the years subscription. _________________ TomTom ONE Series 30 (v8) & TMC traffic

If you buy maps from ebay you are likely to get pirated copies which won't work anyway (unless you are buying genuine TomTom SD card versions - but I have a feeling the 910 doesn't have an SD card slot). Other than the SD cards, maps are locked to the device for which they are bought.
The advice to consider taking the quarterly update service is a reasonable option. The service requires that you buy a "package", being the latest current map and the next year's worth of map releases. For some strange reason, TomTom usually sell the service for less than the cost of merely updating to the latest map - not a lot less, but less. Follow 1952kev's link and get a quote.
You have a cheaper option if you're only after the one map, namely the Western Europe map, which doesn't have the Central, TomTom price is £10 cheaper.
Be aware that new maps are very very imminent for release - days (or hours), not weeks. So don't buy for a few days yet. _________________ Dennis
