|

I have installed the latest version of TT Home on my new PC, which has a clean install of Win7 64 bit.
How do I migrate the settings from my old pc to the new clean install of TTHome? TomTom has installed folders in appdata\roaming\TomTom Home but the data are obviously different to those in my old system.
I have access to all the files that were on my old PC which was WinXP, although the PC itself is dead. There are TomTom Home folders & files such as Profile, extensions etc in Appdata\TomTom Home but it is not clear which ones if any I need to transfer.
In particular I don't want to lose my Mapupdate subscription, and the TomTom account details for my Go Classic and 720.
I have not yet connected my TomTom to the new Home, or adjusted any preferences from the default in the new installation.
Any help and advice, not too technical, would be much appreciated.

Details of the Map Subscription are held on the TT server against your account name, so that should be ok.
And if by "account details, you just mean your login name and password, they are stored on the Go's themselves, so when you connect them to any PC and run Home, you should get logged in automatically.
As for everything else, have a look at the "Folders" tab in the Tools menu / Preferences.
Then you should be able to see the new locations of the various folders that Home uses and can copy all the old files into the right places. |

Just uninstalling and reinstalling Home will get the proper files sorted vis-a-vis the appdata folder, etc. _________________ David |

Thanks for your help and advice. In the end I didn't need to copy any of the old files across. At first I couldn't log in to my account at TomTom through Home, but I could through their website.
Using "my account" on the Go and via my mobile I was able to log in and this fixed the problem with Home.
Everything now seems to be working OK.
