Hi

Can anyone shed light on the eccentric behaviour of my 920 with SanDisk Ultra 8gb card

All started about 5 weeks ago:

First interesting habit, which happens intermittently:
My 920 will decide for no reason to reboot and then go into the infernal boot up loop (same as if you migrate your MapSetings.cfg file after new map update). Tried reset to no avail.
Removing the SanDisk card solves issue in short term if you are away from home.
However, I found if I reinserted SanDisk card, then I connected to TomTom Home2 on laptop and opened 'My Device' , added a location to favourites, all would be well again, until next time. Replaced SanDisk card , but same happens with new card.

2nd is loss of GPRS Traffic and TomTom services, somehow my TomTom account settings just disappeared, as if it had been a victim of a Paul Daniels trick.
I was driving down A1 near Grantham, and traffic disappeared from the screen.
When I tapped screen to enable traffic I got 'could not connect to server' message. Stopping at next lay-by to investigate, I tried again to enable Traffic and got message 'you need TomTom account to access this service, do you want to create account' (or something similar).
I had to set up my account on 920 again.

3rd.
I get what would appear to be boot up screen similar to one you get when you boot up a windows pc, white text on black background with lots of gibberish to us mere mortals.
This has only happened twice.

Is my 920 about to take its final TomTom routing to Satnav heaven?

Make sure you have a full back up of the device then format it using Windows Explorer, don't use the quick format option just the slow format.

Next download the "Clear Flash" utility from TomTom and run that three times.

Reinstall your backup to the device, use the restore factory settings option then set all your options up and see how the device behaves - Mike

Hi Mike,

I have carried out all recommendations and now my 920 is behaving itself up to a point

Now it boots up OK, but takes a while (2 -7minutes) to lock onto a GPS signal, once it does (and map changes to colour), it will then reboot.

On this reboot it seems to be a happy satnav and will run happily until it is once again switched off.

I have even cleaned with a card between screen/case just incase any dirt is affecting the 920.

Maybe it is telling me it is time to retire and move to a newer model.
