Just updating my TT to TT home for latest GPS fix as I do every couple of weeks.
Oh, what is that at the top of the update screen not the UK and Ireland new maps.
Oh no TT what have you done, you are giving me a FREE update of the new maps.
Was thinking about getting a new one just before my holiday next month, but now won't bother.

Which version maps?
Yes many others have reported free map updates. Makes me feel a fool for paying for the Update Service. |

can't be free surely, what about all the people who have paid for the 1/4 updates or bought new maps.
Has to be a catch, they'll probably bill to the last credit card or something - then again is that legal??

My maps were a year out of date and was only thinking of getting the updates because of going on holiday soon. But like I said I do use TT home to get map share updates and the GPS fix.
So I update today and find that the UK and Ireland map is available to me to update. So I update and it all works fine.
The map version is 845.2666
Maybe I now have map updates free for life. _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC

Well, I took the plunge as well.
Western Europe maps v 845.2645
Had to sort out the mapconfig settings though, my back up was 6 months out of date!!
That'll teach me.
Still waiting for something to come up and bite me though _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I did not go looking for the map update. It was just there as an available update when I clicked on update. So I downloaded all available updates.
So is my map version the current one then?
Why has this happened, is there some error at TT towers. _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC

PaulB2005 above said there had been loads of reports as well.
Where are they??
I don't look at the TT forums or other Sat Nav sites, so guessing they are on there - somewhere.
Only seen this post on here, and not many people looking at it either. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

Have they pulled the plug on this now?
I tried updating my 700 late this afternoon. It offered me an updated Western Europe map, but gave a server error when it tried to download it. I've tried again tonight, and now it isn't even offering the map upgrade.
I'll be particularly miffed if I've missed a free update, as I'm about to hand over 70 quid for Western Europe maps to use on another device, so it's not like they're not getting my money.
Oh well... |
