I have just got a New Scenic with the built in TomTom. Very nice piece of kit, that links to your Radio/CD/Aux (for ipods etc) unit. (i.e you turn your radio on and your sat nav comes on too)
I would put the model as loosely based on the TomTom Go 550/750/950 range of Sat navs.
The reason I say this is because it has IQ Routes, Voice to Text, Voice commands, and lane information. However, it also has Bluetooth connection for handsfree telephone calling/receiving.
Once bluetooth is paired with your mobile (upto 5 handsets) it reads your phone numbers from your phone/sim card. You can then add voice tags to contacts, which you can then call by saying the voice tag. Pretty clever stuff.
I'm not sure if this part is dependent of the type of Scenic (Expression, Privlage etc.)
Anyway I hope this post has helped.
Here's a link for the TomTom Carminat user manual (don't know if you already have this).
I'm not sure which model it's based on, but it's pretty heavily customised, as it functions as the display for your phone and stereo too. There are a few obvious missing features when compared to my old GO-700, such as the satellite signal display, and the ability to show your GPS speed. It isn't touch-screen either, but that's not too bad a thing once you get the hang of the joystick.
But your speed cameras and other POIs will work fine. I'm running the zoned cameras with the OGG voices, and they work flawlessly. The only annoyance with the system is that it pauses your stereo whenever it speaks. This can be pretty frustrating on some stretches of motorway, when there's a potential mobile camera on just about every bridge. I'd prefer it if it lowered the stereo but left it playing while it spoke, as the (non-TomTom) DVD system in my last car did.
