I would like to use two different sets of POI speed camera warnings, I guess that I would have to install the same map twice, but with a different name.
My current map is United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland, and I tried renaming that to UK & RoI but the TT didnt recognise that as a map.
How else can I do it ? |

I use 2 sets ie both the full & consolidated.
The full set is set to display poi & give full verbal warnings at a reasonable distance from the camera.
The consolidated set is NOT set to display poi but does give a beep beep much closer to the camera.
The system works well but can get a bit busy when there are lots of camera around but then I can switch the sound off if I want
This has worked well on both a 520 & my current 550 & you will only need the one map but the 2 sets of poi files in the map folder |

I want to use two different versions of the full set (speed zoned) voices using one or the other, not both |

It might help if you let us know what you are trying to achieve.
What 2 sets of speed zoned do you want to load up? Do you want two sets of alarms at different distances? Do you want to sometimes use one set and sometimes another? We can probably come up with some sort of solution for you. _________________ Gerry

You would have to make 2 copies of the database each week so you would have
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20b.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30b.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40b.ov2
etc
Then set up the voice files so you have
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.mp3
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20b.mp3
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.mp3
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30b.mp3
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.mp3
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40b.mp3
etc
where those that end with b are the second voice you wish to use...
and then the icons so you have
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20b.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30b.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.bmp
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40b.bmp
etc
then you can assign 2 different alerts.
Admittedly you would only have to do the voice file and icons once but the data files (OV2) would need to be duplicated each week.
Not sure why you would want to do this though. Would be interesting to know... |

What 2 sets of speed zoned do you want to load up?
I sometimes want to use Vicki speedzoned and sometimes want the original PGPSW world speed zoned set ( the girl with the American accent ) and switch between the two whenever I want.
Do you want two sets of alarms at different distances?
I want them to be at the same distances
Do you want to sometimes use one set and sometimes another?
Yes, that's it exactly
To make the installation simple, and easy to maintain, I dont want to have duplicate or modified files in the same folder which is why I thought about installing the same map twice but with a different name.
I have more than one SD card so maybe the simple answer is to install one set of voices on one and the other on the second |

You could do it with either SD card or have one set on internal memory & the other on the SD card - just take the card out to change voice - whether you use internal memory or 2 x SD cards you will have to keep both up to date via TomTom home & PGPSW |

Edit the contents of the .pna file in one of the map folders, this way you can make two copies of the same map on the same device each containing a different set of voice warnings etc. Use Windows Explorer to right click the .pna file in your copied map folder, then choose open with/ Note Pad, here you can see what to alter - Mike |

1552535496
845
build=2666
id=488042
What do I edit it to ? |

Map A:
ID=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_A.pna
1552535496
845
build=2666
id=488042
Map B:
ID=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_B.pna
1552535496
845
build=2666
id=488042
You should be able to make out the change/ addition which is bold in the above examples, note doing this requires a fully copy of the map folders which also have to contain the same folder name as the first line of text in the pna file - Mike |

I haven't done this for a while (since I had my GO) - do you need to rename the meta and meta.dct files as well?
Also, to clarify, the folder name that the map is in has to be the same as the line you edit in the pna file? |

You are a star that worked perfectly !!
I had to rename the folders and the pna files to
U.K_&_RoI_Standard and U.K_&_RoI_Vicky so as to get it all showing on the map change screen
Andy
I haven't renamed the other files and it seems to work fine
I'm off out to test it now, but I'll take my spare backup card with me in case it doesn't work in actual use |

Hmmm, I came across some problems !
I wasn't getting audible warnings for p_mobile cameras, but I may have fixed that by copying the ordinary mobile camera .ogg's and renaming them appropriately.
Tom Tom Home does not find the second map in order to install updates, so I guess the only answer to that is to use two different SD cards.
A problem with that is synchronising the map corrections I have made between the two cards |

Indeed, playing around with the content of the pna file and the map folder name will confuse the Home software, I don't bother with Map Share as it only serves to degrade the quality of the map IMHO.
To get around this you will need two memory cards, one with the correctly named folders and files, the other containing the two modified map folders. When you need to update Map Share make sure the normal card is inserted then copy the files that get altered during an update to the PC for subsequent forwarding to the two renamed map folders, not 100% whether this will work as I have never tried it.
The re-naming the content of the pna file was an old trick to overcome the limitted Custom POI files earlier software was saddled with. As the Navcore has been improved this is far less of an issue with up to 255 custom POI categories now supported on certain Go devices (it used to be as low as 27) which is why some of us used to run multiple copies of the same map containing different POI files. This was well before Map Share had even been thought about let alone implemented - Mike |

I may be missing something here but if you configure 2 memory cards with the complete operating system & maps and use Vicki speedzoned on one and the original PGPSW world speed zoned set on the other, you can use whichever voice you want simply by swapping memory card. If the cards are then updated directly via the PC (not in the Sat Nav) TomTom home will update whichever one is inserted as if it is the TomTom. Both cards can easily be kept up to date this way |
