don't know about tomtom, but since this is the Copilot forum, you may as well know that Copilot 8 can do TTS - it's about a £4 add-on - but it's not that great, in that the one and only English TTS voice offered is a slightly asthmatic female who speaks too quickly and quietly, runs words together and swallows the last syllable. |

wetsleet, thank you for my first "belly laugh" of the day. nearly in tears trying to imagine your "asthmatic female".
marcus29359 - Not sure about TTS on ONE either but wetsleet is correct, you may get a better response if you post your question in the TomTom forums. Re ask your question with a link to this page and I'm sure it shall be moved over by one of the Mods. |

I think forum member Gee-Pee has a One with TTS as I recall, it was supplied new with the files pre-installed, and will be using Vocalizer rather than Loquendo for the TTS - Mike |

AFAIK the TT ONE IQ Routes in the UK does not normally come supplied with TTS.
Even installing a TTS Navcore and the necessary voice files will not enable it.
Getting it working is well beyond the scope of this forum. |

Is it a ONE IQ Routes or a XL IQ Routes?
Which Navcore version are you running at the moment? 9.026?
Let me know and I might just put you something together to try - you never know, it might work! |

Leave it with me a day or two to extract the necessary files from the 9.026 ttsystem file and I should be able to put something together. |

Download this file - extract it and there is a readme.txt and another RAR file inside.
Follow the instructions in the readme.
This SHOULD enable TTS on ONE (2009) IQ Routes, XL (2009) IQ Routes and XL LIVE (2009) IQ Routes editions. You MUST be running 9.026 - links for the ONE and XL versions as well as Kate Loquendo TTS voice are in the readme. If you have a widescreen model you MUST use the XL 9.026 release or it will crash - there are some file differences between the two.
It MAY work on other models - I can only test on a XL LIVE though. The files have been extracted from Navcore 9.026 so don't try it on a different version. This will upgrade your bootloader to 5.5136 (if it isn't already) which is the standard bootloader for these devices (XL LIVE is currently at 5.5138 so will not be upgraded). If you attempt to use this on an older ONE or XL and don't want to upgrade the bootloader (recommended not to) then delete the system file from the root of the TT after installing the Navcore and before rebooting.
This is all at your own risk - make sure you have a full backup before starting.
This is not a hacked Navcore - it is the original TT navcore with a startup script to amend the hw_loquendo variable. To speed the devices up I copy some files to RAM before running them - please leave feedback as I can disable that feature as it makes the device slower to boot BUT it should run faster. I can amend the script so that all fies are run from the Flash if people find the boot time is too long, but the device will run slower.
Not sure if this will work on a 32Mb version - let me know.
Edit - link removed

Hi I have been reading this thread with interest as I have an XL live IQ routes and would love to have tts again. I used to have tts on my 730 before I had to get rid of it and miss it. However my app no is showing as 8.419. Is it possible to upgrade this so I can try to get tts? Thanks |
