GPS serverside scripts?

Hi all.
Not quite sure which section to post in, so I thought Id start here.

I'm soon of on an extended solo expedition.
I shall be keeping in touch by various means including, maintaining a blog on my own web site.

I have two questions:

1. Does anyone know of any server side software ( freeware) that I could set up on my site so that I could remotely submit periodic GPS coords. These then would maintain and display my position on a map for visitors to see where I was up to.
It might use google maps or use its own?

2. WiFi dongle - It appears from what Ive seen that 3 has the best wifi footprint coverage of the entire coastline of Scotland (not that thats very much ) - does any one know any different?

If you can update your website remotely then you could have a page with a marker pin using Google Maps Static API. You would just need to change the Latitude and Longitude.

All you need is a line like this <img alt="map" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?center=52.319345,-3.84088 &amp;zoom=11
&amp;size=640x640
&amp;markers=color:red|label:A|52.336086,-3.959385
....
plus a key that you get from Google

We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
