Google will be increasing their efforts to get even more of their adverts in front of the world's smartphone population as they use their devices for navigation.
Reuters have reported that Google predicts that its per-advert click revenue derived from smartphones will eventually exceed the market rates of its existing desktop business.
There is a huge growth in mobile browsing and navigation due to the ever-increasing take up of multi-tasking smartphones which Google is seeking to further capitalise on.
The company expects the rates that advertisers are willing to pay per click will surpass the less targeted PC-based model. GPS data that pinpoints a smartphone's location help Google serve more relevant mobile ads that in turn increase advertisers conversion rates and profitability.
Google Engineering Vice President Vic Gundotra said that the number of Google searches on mobile phones have increased by five times in just the last two years. _________________ Robert Brady |

Ads on the desktop are one thing, ads on mobiles are another.
I can live with the former but would get mighty pi**ed off if I started getting bombarded with ads on my phone. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I would imagine that the majority of ads would be targeted more specifically to those who were actively searching for businesses, services or products and, similar to the ads encountered when desktop searching using the Google site, would be welcomed/used by most.
Intrusive, untargeted advertising tends not to work, so we'll probably be spared that annoyance! _________________ Robert Brady |

Couldn't this just be when using Google Local Search, and clicking on a candidate hotel etx? _________________ David
