The GPS-DataTeam website (See HERE) has a lot of converters, including several to convert from Garmin compiled GPI format to the usual formats such as .csv or .ov2
Then POI Editor (from HERE) says it can convert from the more usual formats such as .csv and .ov2 to the iGO 2008 (.upoi) format, suitable for Nav N Go iGO 8 software.
So it looks like it can certainly be done as a two stage process. |

hello Andy
Thank you for your reply
the conversion file is too large and requires that I register for $20
Is it worth it to register
What extension do I use and how do I install it
your help is appreciated
Thank you

do a google search for 'GPS Babel' - it will convert gpi files to csv. you can then edit these into the required format for the igo files.

nav n go needs a plain text file OR a kml file. if you can use Babel to convert to kml then that would be the best bet. other options would be use it to convert to csv, manipulate the data a bit in excel or similar and then use another conversion tool to convert csv to kml.
i've never heard of 'upoi'

The link I gave for POI Editor (as opposed to POI Edit) above takes tyou to their FAQs, where it says:
Quote: | What file formats does POI Editor support? It will currently load and save the following Points of Interest formats :
TomTom binary OV2
Google Earth's KML
Raw ASCII
CSV, suitable for Navman, Garmin and Navigon and others
GPX
MioMap's CSV
Nokia's LMX format
TomTom Itinerary ITN
iGO 2008 (.upoi) Points of Interest - suitable for Nav N Go iGO 8 software |
That's as much as I know..... |
