Just to let you know that we have now made a specific download available for Nissan Connect. This does not contain the copyright line in the files nor does it contain the bmp's in the zip file.

You can download it using the 'Nissan Connect' option on the download page.

I have just downloaded the dedicated Nissan Connect files.
Excellent work and many thanks for your efforts.

I just have one niggle though:

I usually download the .csv file and then edit each one to remove the copyright line from the bottom which is what you have done for us.

But I also changed the name of the cameras so instead of "W-SPECS:82503@50" and all the others, I would change the text in the "Name" column in that file to read "Average Speed Camera". Likewise with the other camera types, I would change them to "Mobile Speed Camera" or "Fixed Speed Camera".

I can do this by changing the entire column so I only need to do it once for each camera type, 5 in total. Takes about 10 minutes. The only thing I can't do is add the speed of each camera because they are mixed up and that would mean editing every line.

So my question is can you add the speed of each camera as a seperate column?

So you would have:

;Longitude Latitude Name Speed

Then when I edit the "Name" column, the speed stays the same.

I would be eternally grateful as I am sure many others would be.

Cheers,

Brian.

I was under the impression that the Nissan Connect required only those 3 fields: Lon / Lat / Name ?

You could always open the CSV file in a text editor like Notepad and change all the @ to commas so they would be an extra column in the CSV.

MaFt, you're correct, the Connect system does need only 3 but can use more.
I tried the comma conversion thing but it just changed all the @ symbols to commas in the same excel cell.
I will keep at it.

Cheers,

Brian.

The result that you get in Excel would be expected. Can you not save the Excel file as a .csv then re-import it to see what happens?

I'm getting there, I can use the "Text to Colums Wizard" and do it that way.

I will try the results on the Nissan Connect and post back.

assuming you are using windows, hold down 'shift' and then right-click the csv file. you should get an extra option of 'open with...'. click this and select 'notepad'. this is a text editor - THEN once open in notepad, use CTRL+H to pull up the find and replace - then change @ to comma

That doen't work, just tried it because excel puts quotes around the field containing the comma Embarassed
MaFt's method does though.

Sorted, now instead of getting the message:

"W-SPECS:82503@50"

I get:

"Average Speed Camera 50"

and for the others I get:

"Mobile Camera 50"
"Speed Camera 50"
"Poss Camera Site 50"
"Redlight Camera"

I still need to edit the Nissan Connect file each time I download it but I can live with that.

Many thanks for your help guys.

I tried something similar with M8TJT's help, but had problems http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=82671 my connect would only sound a warning when approaching a camera from one direction, it wouldn't warn when travelling in the opposite direction. For some cameras it didn't warn in either direction. Reinstalling the CSV file as downloaded and it works fine. Have you had any problems like this?

I haven't been checking Keith, but I will from now on.

I will let you know, thanks for the heads up.
