I just 'upgraded' my PC installed New Vista Ultimate & Windows 7.

Tried to update my satnav camera settings, realised it was not installed and went about re-installing 6.5 then 7.0 finally 7.03. to receive a message that something had gone wrong and to reinstall!

It appears to have corrupted the SD to the extent that the PNA asks for the SD card but does not recognise it? Consequently if I try to run content manager it says to make sure that it is connected, which it is, but it is not seen.

Could someone please tell me what is supposed to be on the SD card as I can see my info is there but in the folder Media there is nothing?

ViaMichelin appears to have cut itself off from the outside world as there is no email address and the old English telephone has a recording that they don't use the phone!

There is a French address but I would like to resove this before 2010.

Cheers

In case you get no other suggestions ...

As you have installed New Vista and Windows, have you confirmed that the relevant Sync program is set up ok?

Also, I happened to see in

Ash10's Camera Manager Software
a comment by Locksmith after he had a problem with CM after an upgrade:
Quote:
In Win7/ internet options/ security tab/ uncheck protected mode.
Open new browser window navigate to pocketgpsworld and log in.
Camera manager then did the business.
I then rechecked the protected mode box.

not sure if it will stay working or not will report back.
Not saying that's your problem of course, just that they do seem to be occurring.

Can't help with your actual question, I'm afraid, but that's life Laughing

Again, not answering your question, but VM do respond to questions submitted using their online form - as BigPerk told me the other day:

If you go into Product Support (via the 'Via Michelin GPS' box near the bottom right of the main page), and search on 'Support', you will get No 2716 'ViaMichelin Customer Support'. This will give you several enquiry options which you should be able to use to fill in a provided form with your request. 2716 was updated on 31/8/09, so seems fairly current.

But I don't know (and rather doubt) whether they will be able to help with this sort of question.

Also, for clarification: you said that you had installed "Vista Ultimate and Windows 7" - you can't have both (unless you have a dual-boot)!

Yes I am dual booting. Having V Ultimate it didn't seem worth the extra money to buy 7 Ultimate so I got the cheaper version.
But I still need somebody to tell me what is missing on my SD?

Cheers

I think I may have along time to wait. See this exerpt:

Quote:
Welcome to ViaMichelin,

We are glad to confirm that we have received your e-mail and we would like to thank you for the interest you have shown in our services.

We will have a very close look at your request and we will respond to it as soon as possible.

The ViaMichelin Customer Service phone lines will be closed from Friday 1st May to Sunday 10th May for essential maintenance purposes. Normal service will be resumed on Monday 11th May from 9am. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience.

So perhaps they have abandoned.

Cheers

Just an update.

Yes they are still responding to queries.

After a week of emails I am now in possesion of an RMA. Had a brainwave this morning as I have some software that finds deleted files - it found 53 files which I restored BUT it didn't find any of the map data so it still will not run. Looked on the dvd but the only likely looking candidate was 3 odd Gb which was too big for the 2Gb SD.

So it looks like I will be sending the SD back unless I have another brainwave.

Cheers

But if that 3gb IS usable map data and Content Manager can recognise it, then CM might (hopefully) be able to offer you a country by country download to your unit, rather than the whole lot in one 3gb 'lump'.

Regretfully CM still doesn't recognise the SD card!

So I have one computer where the X-970T driver installs correctly but the VM software stops and asks for the SD card to be inserted which it doesn't recognise and another, my main one, where the driver refuses to install and neither CM or Windows Mobile will talk to the unit.

I am so tempted to sling it away and buy a working one!
