Thinking of an upgrade, will transferring the user patch, map user patch and map settings cfg, from the 920 to the 950, keep the favorites, map corrections to the 950? Both units will be using the same map version, 8.40.

Transfering the MapSettings.cfg file from the 920 to the 950 probably won't work as they are rnning different Navcores, the answer is to stop using Favourites and employ a custom POI category to save locations as that can be used on ANY tomtom application/ device (even the iPhone if you JailBreak it).

To be honest why are going from an up to date 920 to a 950 it really seems a strange choice to me, if you use the mp3 player or the FM Tx options of the 920 then read the tech spec of the 950 very carefully to avoid disapointment - Mike

re 920 / 950, ...thinking about it. Appreciate the loss of some of the "gloss". Just converting favorites now. What about the map corrections etc, arent they in different files other than mapsettings.cfg?

You're right, map Corrections don't reside in MapSettings.cfg.

As far as I know, they seem to be involved with 5 DAT Files:
Firstly, ServerNameIndex.dat, ServerLineIndex.dat and MapServerPatch.dat (all in the map folder) seem to handle the downloaded corrections.

Then MapUserPatch.dat (again in the map folder) refers to changes in another file in the root directory called UserPatch.dat which actually contains the details of your own changes.
If you delete either file they recreate themselves but if you do not have a matching pair you seem to lose the changes.

Whether you can copy them from map to map (even of the same version) I've no idea I'm afraid, but if you try it, do report back with your results! Smile
