Hi,

New to this forum, but wonder if anyone could tell me the best method of recording your own sound files to work through TT. I have tried using software such as 'Sound Forge'; which gives the option to save as an Ogg. Problem is that the file will not play fully on the TT unit because, I assume it becomes to big, most of the sounds like Liz Whitaker etc are around 28kbs, even short ones that I save end up at 90 - 110 kbs.

Any tips or thoughts would be appreciated. Shocked Laughing Happy Birthday!

You could try Audacity. It's free Very Happy . Google is your friend.
You have to 'Export' from it, not 'Save As'

In Audacity, there are several locations for quality settings.
Edit / Preferences / Quality allows you to set the default bit depth and sample rate
and
Edit / Preferences / File formats has a slider to set the "ogg qualty" Mine is left at the default of "5" (midway).

I have a full set of ogg files that I made up some time ago for the Speed Zoned Complete

Can be downloaded HERE

Think there are 3 files not used any more.

But just extract them ALL to your default TT map folder.

Voices says:

check speed, gatso ahead, 20 miles per hour
check speed, gatso ahead, 30 miles per hour
check speed, gatso ahead, 40 miles per hour

etc

I recorded a couple using Audacity and a microphone (Andy_P told me how, you need to get the settings right - just mono and the right number of Hzs). So I now have grandchildren shouting "Wake up Dennis, Speed camera ahead". They're not a lot of good so far as professional quality is concerned - have you ever tried getting youngsters to do anything like that properly? Nightmare. But Vera loves them, so they're staying! Could always take one of the .ogg files you have, and rename it to Tesco.ogg , load it into Audacity or Goldwave and then record yourself SCREAMING..... Save the file, and there you go!!!!
