Can we please have the temporary (roadworks) average speed cameras as a separate file? |

Why? What benefit would that bring? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The current state of the database is very inaccurate. The cameras are constantly moving and being switched on or off as the roadworks progress.
I would simply prefer not to load them into my device rather than have inaccurate and out of date information. _________________ HP iPAQ 5935 running Nav N Go iGO8

My best guess would be so that you don't have to load them and be constantly warned of the tSPECS when it is blindingly obvious that you are in a roadworks
But I do appreciate that this would increase the POI categories for some systems.
EDIT: Beaten to it |

I'd have to take exception with the claim that they are very inaccurate. They are obviously a moving target but they still serve as a useful reminder.
There are huge issues with adding a new file and we would be very reluctant to do so. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It may be blindingly obvious to you but then traffic lights are blindingly obvious to me but we still have a redlight file.
The database is there to serve as a reminder that there are speed limits and they are possibly even more important in an area where roadworks are under way?
Even though roadworks SPECS move, they don't move that frequently and when they move they may move one section at a time. So the warnings are still useful.
If necessary we can make a splash about the need for more tSPECS reports to ensure we capture the move in a timely manner.
But where I have come across tSPECS which have been inaccurate they have still served a purpose. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It was just a thought.
As it seems it would be difficult to produce a separate file, could the tSPECS cameras not be marked as such within the existing SPECS file? _________________ HP iPAQ 5935 running Nav N Go iGO8

My guess was at why the OP wanted a saparate file(s). Borne out by his answer. I also fully agree with you about redlight and Redspeed cams.

I think that's a good Idea |

They are recorded as tSPECS within the file, what else did you have in mind? _________________ Darren Griffin |

How are they marked?
I'm using the .txt files for iGO.
As a long distance LGV driver, I come across a lot of roadworks on our motorways, and I guess that I'm in as good a place as anyone to help clean up the tSPECS data. I shall be doing my best to keep up with them. _________________ HP iPAQ 5935 running Nav N Go iGO8

That makes it difficult then, but good choice of software

You sound like just the person to have on board as a spotter. Keep up the good work. I see by your 'lifetime' that you have already been busy |

Eyebeear, Although it may not be possible to have the tSPECS files supplied as a separate file you do not need to extract them from the download if you don't want to. Depending upon the brand of "unZipper" you use, highlight only the zipped files of the cameras you want to to unzip before clicking on the "extract" button. I avoid unzipping and loading mobile cameras onto my TomTom using this method.
Alternatively, unzip all files onto your PC somewhere but transfer across onto your SatNav only the speedcam POI's you require (if iGo allow you to do this). _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

AliOnHols,
Thanks for the thought, but it is not possible to differentiate between the tSPECS and SPECS data in the .txt files downloadable for iGO. Otherwise I'd not have a problem. _________________ HP iPAQ 5935 running Nav N Go iGO8

How does that work? The tSPECS are in the SPECS file. So he'd have to do without ALL SPECS or is that what you meant? _________________ Darren Griffin |
