|
|
Have just purchased a TT 730. After what seems like an eternity the update to the map using the Latest Map Guarantee has returned an error.
The download Western Europe and Central Europe 2GB completed.
It was when it came to write to internal memory that the error message saying insufficient space and to remove 105.8Mb.
What should I do? |

My suggestion is to get a 4-gig sdhc card and install your map there. Will make your life much better. Trust me. (The 730 will see the map as if it were installed on internal). _________________ David |

I have a spare SD 2Gb but I thought I would use this for other maps eg USA. I suppose I could use this until I get a larger card
Can I ask how it will make life easier ? |

By not having to worry about getting the map to fit within 2 gigs of storage without having to strip stuff out to make it do so. Especially if you also want things like mp3s, photos and various computer voices on your unit. _________________ David |

Inserted new 4Gb SDHC card into TT. Tried installing map update but I am still getting the lack of space error.
This is inspite of selecting SD card when connecting TT and HOME together.
Is there something I have missed ? |

The application may be screwing up and trying to install the map to either internal or to BOTH the card and internal.
Make an Explorer backup of internal. Then move the specific map folder to the computer. Now select the sdhc card AGAIN in Home for the installation. If it tries to install to internal, there should be room now and you can copy to the sdhc card or, if also on the card, remove from internal and restore the previous map.
Or...........
You can go here for instructions on installing a map without using Home. Just make sure the installation is to the sdhc card. _________________ David |

Although you shouldn't HAVE to go through these hoops, dhn's instructions are a good workround for now.
You've just stumbled on a bug (or "challenge" as TomTom calls them ) with the current version of Home, where whatever you tell it, it insists on trying to install to both locations. |

Thank you. This appears to have worked.
I now have lots of space on the internal memory.
Apart from the minor niggle of losing a couple of favourites (which are easily replaced) all appears well.
Will test the TT tomorrow to ensure all is well |
