T+1 Solutions, already the Americas Grand Prize Winner of NAVTEQ's Global LBS (Location Based Services) Challenge, have now been recognised as the overall worldwide LBS Challenge champion at an awards ceremony held in Stevenage, UK.
Earlier this year, PocketGPSWorld.com met the very excited creator of TaxiPal, CEO, Raoul Jarvis at the CTIA Wireless Show in Vegas. As he left the stage sporting a huge cheque, he explained to me that their phone application, TaxiPal will get you the best taxi service for your trip, anywhere in the world, circumnavigating language barriers.
The desired time and destination is sent from the user's mobile phone to a taxi brokering server. Local taxi companies then confirm by submitting competing bids and proposed routes back to the consumer. The customer then chooses the best time and price to suit.
T+1 Solutions, a start-up from Estonia, wins a further $10,000 cash prize, awarded in addition to the previously received Americas prize package valued at over half a million dollars, which included cash, Navteq data licenses and sponsor-donated licenses.
The TaxiPal service will soon launch in all EU countries.
The LBS Challenge is now in its sixth year and encourages application developers to build innovative location based services that work with mobile and wireless devices. _________________ Robert Brady |
