I have had the XL LIVE model for about a month now as a replacement for my troublesome 920.

First Impressions - what an excellent piece of kit from TT. It does what it says on the tin (DennisN go and buy one!) and navigates from A to B without locking up or stuttering on me.

So, after having all the bells and whistles of a 920 what are the pro's and cons?

Pro's
Does what it says on the tin - all of the x10 and x20's I have had have all had 'issues'
No weird lockups or reboots
LIVE Traffic - much better than RDS-TMC
Google Search - been very useful whilst on holiday
Fuel Prices - good when you are driving a gas guzzling 4x4 (LPG!!)
Love the Black menu background on Night Colours

Cons
No TTS - although I am not really missing it

Don't cares
Bluetooth Hands Free - totally given up on this anyway a long time ago and bought a car kit
Speech Recognition - didn't work that well with the Northern accent anyway
Bluetooth Remote - never used it anyway
MP3 playback - it was rubbish anyway

So all in all for the price I would highly recommend the XL LIVE, if only TT hadn't saved a few pennies on TTS licensing it would be truly awesome. If they can launch it in some countries with TTS then why not everywhere?

Oh, and before anyone asks, just putting the necessary Loquendo files on there doesn't give you TTS.

So, has anyone else got a XL LIVE and what do they think?

Questions..

Has it gotta SD card slot and does it work from SD card if it has?

How do you get it where you can reach it? I have all my devices on gooseneck extension thingies.

OK so it won't work for you then!

I thought the mount was a bit odd at first, but after a day or two I am used to it.

It is the first TT I have seen a while which actually works out of the box without some glaring bug though.

OK. I'll just have to hope the x50s are out before my 920 finally gives up the ghost, then I'll be able to get an x40 cheap as chips and try that. With luck it shouldn't be long, maybe even whilst I'm in Corfu to be ready for when I get back. Very Happy (If I knew about screwdrivers and stuff, I'd ask you for the USB socket off your dead 920, 'cos mine's a bit busted Sad ).

920 gone back to Holland for good, sorry!

Just a thought from your previous post - at this point I don't need a SD card as I don't need to run 27 different Navcores to try and find one that works with either my phone, mp3 playback, rds-tmc, has a volume control that actually works, cure stuttering, cure map refresh issues etc. Need I go on!

As long as you don't need multiple maps then the XL LIVE is a cracking device. Shame they didn't put a USB2 socket on it though as it takes forever to put 2gig of maps on there!

Seems like I am the only owner on here at the moment - good job I don't need any tech support!

OK, I'll think about it. I'm due an expensive birthday present when I get back from Corfu - maybe an XL LIVE IQ regional, or a Roadhawk, or both!! Very Happy
