|
|
When OS3.0 was released for the iPhone earlier in the year Turn by Turn Navigation apps were finally allowed by Apple's sometimes very restrictive rules. Since then, a steady stream of navigation apps have been appearing in the AppStore but with no demo's or 'lite' versions it is rather difficult for users to make decisions about which to buy. In an aid to help iPhone users in their quest PocketGPSWorld.com have put together this comparison chart highlighting the main features of each app that is currently available. As new apps are released we aim to keep this as up to date as possible.
Click here to see the comparison chart. |

How about a 'querks' category?
For Co-Pilot, I'd suggest:
• enable 'show more options' to access all preferences
• the need to create a custom routing profile, otherwise routing not reliable. _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

I like the idea of a "Querks" category,
For I-Go "Igo / settings / sounds and warnings / key presses" otherwise the software beeps everytime you touch the screen - drove me nuts for a few days last week - Mike |

"Quirks / Tips" section added - feel free to post your own!
i also just realised that of the 3 i own (sygic, igo, copilot) igo has, by far, the smoothest transition between landscape and portrait modes!

- Waypoints: 1 via point, coming very soon (next update)
Suggested new row:

An important thing with traffic is to cite the source, if known. There's good traffic and bad traffic info! |

For Sygic's
Quote: | 'Agree' to disclaimer on every launch. |
If your iPhone is jailbroken, edit the settings.ini file in the .app bundle
[Settings]
processing=fribidi
PositionFiltering=true
showSafetyMsg=true <<< change to false _________________ Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want. |

There are a few errors in this, Google gets its map data from TeleAtlas - it says at the bottom right corner of google maps
You have also included a UK app but not UK versions of others. For example, Navigon (apart from in the US) has Text-to-Speech coming in the next update, along with live traffic updates.
It also states that Navigon has an update coming that has multi-point route planning and call POI, but that it currently lowers the iPod music volume when there is voice guidance, yet these features are not yet available in the US until the update is released. Both these features, are, however, available in all other localisation's. |
