ALK's CoPilot Live app for iPhone has hit the UK Appstore.
The feature list includes turn-by-turn voice directions, UK & Ireland maps data, full UK post codes and 2D/3D map data.
Additional features include 'LiveLink' location sharing and messaging, 5-day weather forecast and lane indicator and clearturn displays.
Best of all, ALK have matched the price of CoPilot in the Android Market store, at £25.99 it's very reasonable and as I've a long drive ahead of me later today I've gone and bought it.
We'll post our views and the opinions of our readers in the thread below.

Am I right in thinking there are no speed cameras, and presumably no "holy grail" of being able to upload them either? |

they claim that speed cameras will be in the next free update.
Definitely interested in this one as didn't like the load time and bulk of Igo, and at least this one appears to use some iphone gui functionality.
Off to get an itunes card at lunchtime |

Beware of that, they chose not to use our data instead choosing some other source.
Of course I'm biased but if they aren't using ours then they aren't using the best.
On the upside, first impressions are of a very fluid and well presented app that works well on the iPhone. _________________ Darren Griffin

No speed cameras as yet. Apparently these are coming (together with other features) in an "update"
Not sure about the traffic service, all seems to be there for it but you might need to buy a subscription.
A review of the software has appeared at http://www.pda-247.com/wordpress/2009/08/co-pilot-live-8-for-iphone-review/
Have bought the app as well and will post by thoughts when I have had a chance to use it!
Be interested to see what Darren thinks! |

Really traffic and speed cameras are the features I'm after, with a side order of navigation. I follow pretty much the same route every day, but need a really good app for traffic, ideally tied in with navigation.
TomTom's HD Traffic can't be beat it seems - their normal traffic service is a bit lacklustre and often wrong - so it depends if they include HD Traffic with their program. |

I had been tempted to wait for TT but at only £25.99 I think Co-Pilot will be getting my money. |

I purchased Copilot for iphone today and im liking it alot Just tested it in london went on a 2 mile trip to B&Q.before i left the house i wondered if i could install speed maps onto the iphone via SSH. So i went to ALK Technologies website and it states
"ALK Technologies provides CoPilot 7 customers with access to free monthly Safety Camera Updates covering major European Countries. Unlike other Satellite Navigation providers, ALK Technologies does not charge for this service, it is complete FREE for existing CoPilot customers."
So i downloaded the file "safetycam.ezp" and followed the instructions ( Not specific to iphone ) it informs you as to where to put the file. so i navigated to the Copilot app via SSH on my Mac using an ftp application and put the safetycam.ezp" file in the appropriate folder. I then launched Copilot on my iphone and immediately a screen appeared saying "Copilot is implementing upgrades please wait" after about 1 minute copilot continued to the main screen, I checked preferences and this time had the option to enable Safety Alerts. I now have the latest speedcams on my iphone and they work ... Very chuffed[/code] _________________ --

I presume that's using a jailbroken phone ? |

yeah, it would be a jailbroken phone.
Very good to hear that it can be done though. Going to read a few reviews and will probably purchase at the weekend. |

If you can believe it I got a reply from ALK saying the speed camera update would be about a month. _________________ Alan - iPhone 5 64GB, with CamerAlert, TomTom Europe & CoPilot |
