Mapinfo.dat file to Mapsettings.cfg conversion?

I too have suffered the loss of my favourites when updating the Western Europe maps on my GO700.

However, none of my backups contain a 'mapsettings.cfg' file; there is only 'mapinfo.dat' that looks like a candidate for containing the favourites information.

Is there some way of converting this mapinfo.dat file into either a new format mapsetting.cfg, or to POI favourites? Will POI Edit read the mapinfo.dat file?

No that file is a different file altogether. The mapsettings.cfg fiile is created and written into the map folder and should have copied across when a backup was made. If the file is missing it will be recreated automatically but any settings and favourites in the previous version will be missing.
