|
|
first off, apologies if this is in the wrong section.
Ok, I have a E750 which has just been returned to me after spending 4 months for repair with Toshiba.
So it arrived today,I installed my tomtom software , SD card and GPD CF card (TFAC CF-30LP)and all was looking rosey, but heres the problem
Every time I switch on the PDA I get a message saying "Unrecognised Card, enter the driver name for this card"and a blank text box for me to type something in
??? never had that before ???
I also get a warning saying no com port 1 , which I assume is the CF slot which my GPS card is in
can anyone give me any ideas as to whats wrong, I'm sure when I first got the PDA I didnt have to enable com ports or anything like that. I've spent nearly 5 hours trying to solve it so far, and it looks like its going to be a long night:(
any help is greatly appreciated

UPDATE
for some weird reason ,I've now discovered that if I unplug the CF card and replug it while the E750 is still on, it recognises it straight away with no fuss. If I turn the unit off again while its working, and restart it then I get the same problem..
This is baffleing me , any ideas???
As I dont really like unplugging & replugging the CF card while the unit is on

(damn, no edit facility)
It dosnt work everytime, but when it does the E750 sees it as a modem and says some thing like , "no devices need this modem" before I open p tomtom and then find it in the GPS list

This sounds like your Toshiba has WM2003 on it, did it have WM2003 before the repair? I ask as this issue is well known with some CF GPS cards that are not fully WM2003 compatible. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I was thinking along the same lines, that maybe Toshiba put a different version of the software in.. as far as I can tell the software is
microsoft pocket pc
version 4.20.1081 (build 13100)
no idea what was in before unfortunatly.
is it worth finding and installing a different version, or getting a new CF GPS card ?
Thanks in advance

Well if anything you have the newest available version and so I wouldn't advise you change it.
I've tried to ascertian if the TFAC is WM2003 compatible but their website doesn't have the info, I'll see what I can dig up. _________________ Darren Griffin |

well, today I emailed the card manufacturers and considering they're in Taiwan I was amazed that I got a reply within a few hours. Unfortunatley thaey said that they've never made driver for their CF GPS cards as they'r usually just plug & play, but they also said they'll look into it and let me know the reults..pretty good I thought.
So I spent most of the day trawling the net looking for some help, but so far I've come accrss nothing.
Please help Pocket GPS World

It's bad news I'm afraid, the CF Card is definitely not certified for WM2003, whilst you may be able to get it to work by doing as you have done so, your best option is a new WM2003 compatible GPS.
The only way the TFAC is going to be fixed is if they produce an updated formware release for it and it can be 'flashed' or they offer to replace it with one that has the new firmware. I wouldn't hold much hope of that happening, with all the best will these companies churn out new models at a rapid rate and their is little commercial insentive for them to provide upgrades for older units _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren for all your help with this. Shame really as it was a good card and I have a card reader in my pc , so it would be easy to flash.
oh well of to the shops we go then
Thanks again

Don't forget that you should be able to sell this quite easily either here or on eBay, may help offset some of the cost of the replacement _________________ Darren Griffin |
