In my navi 250, in the coordinates section, how do I set the following coordinates please?
49.405938, 3.128160

In the sat nav, it has the following boxes to enter data i.e. a box for N, s, w, E
Thanks

'decimal degrees' is the format you have posted and is 'north','east'

so you would put:

N: 49.405938
E: 3.128160

for south or west values you would need to put a 'minus sign' eg -1.23456

hope that helps?

Are you sure about this?
Becasue on my device on the corner of the box has a degree sign and on the last box had a sign similar to '

the default in there are the following figures:

N in the first box, 51 (Degree sign i.e. the little circle) in the middle box and 35.937 in the last box with a little sign as '
Then in the lower set of boxes the figures are:
w in the first box, 0 in the next box with circle and 23.965 in the last box with ' sign

Any thoughts please?
Thanks

That sounds like its using degrees decimal minutes rather than decimal degrees for the coordinate format - Mike

I am still not sure in which boxes exactly to enter these figures though.

they will need converting to the correct format first.

49.405938, 3.128160

latitude:
49.405938 = 49 whole degrees + 0.405938 degrees

0.405938 degrees x 60 = 24.35628 minutes

it is positive therefore north so enter: N 49° 24.35628'

longitude:
3.128160 = 3 whole degrees + 0.128160 degrees

0.128160 degrees x 60 = 7.6896 minutes

it is positive therefore east so enter: E 3° 7.6896'

hope that helps

by the way, as you posted in the garmin forum is it actually a nuvi250 as opposed to a navi 250?

if so then there should be a setting to change the format needed for the coordinates - can;t remember where though...!

If its a negative number it will be South (Lat) or West (Long) - Mike

e.g.

-42.12345,2.12345

the 1st half (latitude) is negative so is SOUTH, the 2nd is positive so is east.

I see. thanks
USing the initial coordinates I gave, the sat nav does not seem to be pointing to the right location.
Those coordinates should give a place called "Berny Riviere" in France.
Do you get that please?
Thanks

Both of the numbers you gave are positive therefore its North and East, I think you might still have the device set to Degrees, decimal minutes rather than decimal degrees as I get the correct location using Google Earth - Mike

Yes, I get Berny-Riviere on my nuvi, using your co-ordinates with the unit's Co-ordinates Format set to decimal degrees (h ddd.ddddd).
