|
|
In Victoria Australia the Speed and Red Light Cameras are being upgraded to the latest digital technologies.
Redflex Traffic Systems has won a contract to upgrade the current wet-film technology speedcameras to the new digital ones. This means that there is now no chance that the speed camera has run out of film. If it flashes you have been captured on camera.
The official Redflex Traffic Systems press release:
Victorian Red-Light and Speed Systems
13 July 2009
Redflex Traffic Systems Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Redflex Holdings Limited, is pleased
to announce the execution of further contracts with the Department of Justice of Victoria to install
Redflex red-light and speed systems at a total of 16 intersections around Victoria.
Redflex Traffic Systems will supply, install and maintain the camera systems. These contracts are
worth over $4 million Australian Dollars.
Redflex is already a leading supplier of traffic enforcement systems and services to the State of
Victoria, having a large number of combined red-light and speed systems, freeway speed, and
point-to-point speed systems in operation for many years.
Redflex is pleased to be participating in the State Government’s program to upgrade existing wet
film red light cameras to digital technology in its efforts to continue to improve safety on the roads. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Is this a flash-back post from the 90's?!
Surely all speed cameras have been digital for nearly a decade now like they have in the UK. |

I am off to Melbourne soon. Does the CamerAlert app have the ability to download the Australia database?
Thanks |

Hi shinydoc,
CamerAlert's database covers all countries. So before you go to Australia ensure that you have updated CamerAlert's database.
Please don't forget to capture any new/removes/changes whilst you're in Australia.
Also, if you turn data roaming off, you can still update the database and submit changes via WiFi.

Thanks Privateer. I wasn't sure if the CamerAlert database was just the UK, but that is great news |

Oh, and don't forget to change "unit of measure" from miles to km in CamerAlert's setup whilst you're in Australia.
Have a good trip!
