I have 2 UK and Ireland maps installed on my T.T. Go but one is more recent than the other but no indication which one. How do I tell which is the latest ? |

There are two ways, in each map folder is a file that has the same name as the map folder but also has the file extension .pna right click this file using Windows Explorer and select Open With/ Notepad, the text file can then be read.
Alternatly using the device tap the sat strength meter followed by the version box and the resultant screen will tell you the map details and its version number. Switch to the other map and repeat the above, which ever has the higher number is the newer map currently v830 is the latest available - Mike |

If you want to delete one of them, it's difficult to see which one to get rid of if the names are the same.
If you look in the .pna file that Mike referred to, the version number is on the third line.
Just delete the entire folder containing the .pna file with the lower number (Backup first of course!) |

As an alternativce to deleting, change the displayed ID.
First line says (something like)
ID=UK&ROI.pna
Whilst still in Notepad, alter that to
ID=UK&ROIv830.pna
and it will then show that number when you look at it on the device. Alter the other one to v810 (or whatever). _________________ Dennis

If I remember correctly you don't want to change the first line of the pna file on your most up-to-date map if you use mapshare as changing this line stops mapshare working.
DennisN wouldn't know about that as he's not a mapshare user. _________________ Paul |

That's interesting and you're right, I had no idea. I wonder if some people have trashed Mapshare by doing it? Not many people have enough space on their devices to hold more than one map, so I suppose it would apply to maps on SD/SDHC cards. _________________ Dennis

In fact, until a recent Home update corrected the issue with mapshare corrections not showing a total on your Home screen, one NA user stumbled upon the fact that if you change the value in line one to show 831 (after NA for our maps), then the changes showed correctly! _________________ David |

So changing the first line stops Mapshare working and changing the first line makes Mapshare work. Doh!
Guess why I don't use Mapshare! _________________ Dennis

Not precisely...changing the value to 831 didn't make mapshares work; they WERE working. Changing the value made the counter in Home work. _________________ David |

Makes you wonder about people, doesn't it? How could anybody come across that solution? What process of logic or Blue Sky thinking took that guy to decide to cure the mapshare counter by adding 831 to the first line of the .pna file? Do people all over the place sit jiggering about with things until they come across stuff?
Did one or two of Bubbles' ancestors really write all that King Lear and Midsummer Night's Dream stuff? "To be or not to be?" Maybe that explains some of the Navcore releases and subsequent fixes? Is Bubbles up for sale? Could he/she (?) pop over here and make my TomTom work please? Free bananas or cattle prod, take your pick!
G'night. _________________ Dennis
