I have had my nuvi for around 3yrs. Never had a problem in the past but now cannot seem to get it to install the weekly updates properly. I have watched the video and do everything OK, including getting congratulated on installing a gazillion POI's. Problem is there are too many cameras it does not recognise - for example the SPECS on the M3 around J3, which have been there for ages. What am I doing wrong? When I look at the folders in the nuvi (when connected to my computer) I cannot see any fresh files - is this it and if so, why does it tell me I have just installed new POI's? Would much appreciate some guidance. |

Just a wild guess, do you have another card reader connected to your computer which has a SD card in it? I had that situation once and as I was too fast to start the transfer of my Waypoints from Mapsource after connecting the nüvi 765. It was not yet recognised by the system. This resulted them to be written to that (totally unrelated) SD card instead of my nüvi.

Thanks BeatO. I don't think it is this as I have no other device connected to the computer with a SD card. I have just downloaded the latest camera database and installed it (got the acknowledgement etc) but no sign of it on the nuvi - the nuvi even says it has new data and do I want to install it? I am baffled. |

This normally only happens if you install the POIs to an SD Card. Do you have one installed? If so remove it. Then connect the un it to your PC and use Windows Explorer to look at the drive in the Nuvi. Find the directory
x:\garmin\poi
move all the files you find there to a folder on your PC.
Re-download the database and upload it again. See if that works. |

Thank you very much for this. I did as you said and removed the existing POI's from the Nuvi, reloaded the latest database into the Nuvi and then looked again into the drive to find another set of POI's had appeared - presumably this can only be the new set? I guess I will find out when next going past some SPECS or some such.
Thanks again for the advice. |

The speed camera database is loaded in the same way as the normal POIs. i.e. into the POI.GPI file so this is normal. You can check the SPECS by browsing the map to the location to see if they are there or not. |

Thank you again Paul. Sorry to be dim, but how do you access the maps in the nuvi? Or do you mean browsing the map on the website? I am learning a lot here! |

Main screen. View Map option.
Or Where To?, Browse Map
On the Nuvi.
