I passed 2 cameras on opposite sides of the road and my TomTom GO 300 warned GATSO ahead 30 MPH. On passing them I noticed that they were in fact TREVELIO'S 30MPH not on the same side of the road as indicated on my Sat Nav. I update my Sat Nav every Wednesday, so why were the wrong type of cameras indicated? I load the Speed Zoned Complete type and I have never seen anything about TREVELIO'S. Where do I get the TREVELIO Camera types for my GO 300? This could have cost me 3 points and a £60 fine if I had not noticed, as TREVELIO'S operate in the reverse direction on detection. When I went to report a change of Camera Type on the reporting page, to my suprise I found the TREVELIO'S were already shown, so why did my last update still show GATSO'S? |

Truv cameras are fixed cameras and as such they are included with the other fixed cameras commonly knows as Gatso's - this also includes Watchman and Monitron as well as any other fixed camera.
Your TomTom cannot use directional data (even though the database from this site supports such capability) so you will be warned when aproaching from either direction (a lot of Truv cameras are bi-directional as they are very easy to swing through 180 degrees).
I assume you got a warning from the device pertaining to a Gatso, if the database were split up into all the different camera types some devices couldn't support the installation so some generalisation is needed hence the term "Gatso" really meaning all fixed speed camera installations. Another reason to no split the database down to further sub categories is down to users wanting to load other custom POI files, with over thirty Speed camera categories (currently) you can still load around 65 other custom POI categories to your Go-300. If we broke the database down to all the different types with speed zoned ratings you wouldn't have much room for anything else at all, plus it would take ages to configure the warnings everytime to update the map - Mike |

Dear Mike thank you very much for your most welcomed speedy reply that will now put my query to bed. What would we do without such dedicated professionals at our disposal when needed. Regards Nimpy. |

Please don't assume that Truvelos can only operate in one direction. You can get caught by a Truvelo driving towards or away from it, and on either side of the road. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |
