My TomTom 530 has been very reliable up until I subscribed to TT trafffic. I use a blackberry 8900 with it to access the traffic updates.
From time to time, sometimes several times in an hour's journey, sometimes not at all, the TomTom just freezes and then after half a minute or so, resets.
This only happens when I have Traffic Updates active.
It does tend to happen more if I'm on the phone (which means that the traffic can't update - it's only a 2G handset). I don't use the tomtom as a speakerphone (I use a dedicated bluetooth speakerphone for that). Note that it doesn't always happen. I can be on the phone for ten minutes, and the tomtom tries a couple of times to get traffic updates (it's set to every four minutes) and fails, but the resetting problems seems quite sporadic.
Sometimes, it just happens anyway even when I'm not on the phone. Obviously, as I'm driving, I can't tell whether it only happens when there's no signal and the tomtom can't update.
It's so infuriating that I generally switch off the traffic updates.
Does anybody else have these problems? Is there some temp folder I need to delete or something? |

Happens to me all the time with my 530. As you say, if I don't have the phone available the unit tries and gives up to get an update but carries on quite happily. If the phone is available, the unit freezes then usually resets (occasionally a manual reset is required) and thereafter seems to work OK.
Tried factory reset and was hopeful when new Navcore was released a few weeks ago but this doesn't appear to be a fix thats made it in...
I never had this problem with my TT One |

delete the gnsdata file in the gns folder - it will get recreated on boot up again.
sounds like it is corrupted |
