The ~ was there under TTN2 also, it's a fudge driver which can cause problems with other GPS programs. |

You may only see TomTom ~ GPS now, but don't worry if you don't see TomTom GPS as uninstalling TomTom ~ GPS just uninstalls the fudge driver. |

Correct, this is what has worked for me time and time over and just recently with 3.01. You'll probably find the TomTom ~ GPS also higher up on the list. |

At some point in the past, TomTom changed from declaring their application to the Application Manager as "TomTom GPS" to "TomTom ~ GPS". If you didn't uninstall previous versions before installing new ones, you may have both in your "Remove Programs" list.
My guess would be that "TomTom ~ GPS" will do the two stage uninstall of a recent version, and "TomTom GPS" may do something weird (and can possibly be edited out of the Registry, but that may also have side-effects). However, the behaviour here is a little undefined. If an uninstall of "TomTom ~ GPS" doesn't force a soft reset, I'd expect things Bluetooth to be weird, and a soft reset would solve it. Usually the first uninstall of a recent version of TomTom GPS (which unhooks the Bluetooth driver) forces a soft reset, and usually the second one (which removes recent versions of TomTom GPS completely) does as well.
Because of the "in use" nature of the Bluetooth driver and the change of application name, it's probably better to remove one version of TomTom GPS completely from the Pocket PC before installing another. "Remove Programs" offers a fairly easy way to do this without having to wait for ActiveSync to fire up potentially three times (twice to remove the old version and a third time to install the new version).

I think you have the right attitude - if it works don't "fix" it!
