|
|
I just bought a refurb'ed One XL from Morgan Computers, at what seemed like a good price.
got the maps and software updated with TomTom Home (as the instructions said)
I am getting no signal - even when standing outside some distance away from any buildings.
would I need an external aerial for this device to pick up satellites?
or is it likely there's a problem with the unit?
My wife's Garmin works fine here (St. Albans) but it has an external aerial wired into the Power connection / bracket |

You shouldn't need an antenna. How long have you tried being outside for? Were you stationary? Have you tried a reset? |

From absolute scratch, the device MIGHT take quite a bit longer than that to achieve "first lock", although if you tap the signal strength bars and then tap them again on the next screen you should see good signal levels after a short while even if they are shown in grey (this happens until it finds "lock".)
After the first time, achieving 'lock' should be MUCH quicker - just a few seconds normally. |
