Thank you for looking ...
I hope I've posted this in the right place ...
I have a Mitac Mio P550 PDA with TomTom and Mio Maps on a 4GB SD card - it was working perfectly until it locked up while trying to access TomTom.
I did factory reset and while the Mio was capable of seeing the Mio map on the SD card and able to run it properly, and still does, the TomTom and various other programs on the card just bring up this message ...
There is no application with “Install” Run the application first then open this file within the application.
Or this message
The File “System” cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. You may need to reinstall or restore this file.
Can you tell me how best to proceed?
Thank you very much

Is this a legitimate TomTom installation? There should be an Autorun folder on the SD card within which is the setup.exe. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Tap the four CAB files one after the other that are in the 2577 folder, this should install the application, although I thought later versions of TTN6 only used two CAB files for a full install (ttn and tomtom) - Mike |

Mike,
I re-installed the 4 CAB files as you suggested and it has come back to life ... well nearly ... it now seemingly starts but says ... there is no GPS device ... I stood in the garden with it for a while but there was still no GPS signal.
I’m wondering if I made a wrong choice during the setup. Noticeably the blue, Bluetooth light came on along with the TT. I think I chose wireless TomTom when asked. Was this the right thing to do?
Thank you

I'd chose the wrong one in "Specify Your GPS Hardware" with it corrected the blue light has gone leaving me with just one problem ... "No GPS devise" or "Waiting for GPS signal" and no connection.
Does anyregulars to the forum have a Mio P550 with Mio Maps and TomTom?

Mike, the answer is indeed in the link you suggest although I’d stumbled upon earlier.
While trying various permutations this morning I clicked GPS_COM on the Change Preferences – Show GPS status – Configure page. I’d previously being clicking COM 5 or COM 3.
In either event it’s back to normal.
Or it would be if the Z Book file on the SD card would open up. Prior to the reset there were 13 complete volumes, now there are 13 titles, and when you click on them it says there is no application associated with this file. Presumably this also needs something re-installing?
Thank you again for your help.

I assume the "Z Books" are electronic books that need some application to open/ read them, if you got the application from somewhere like handango.com then you should be able to download the application from your account (who though Apple were first with the App Store when Handango were making this service available for years prior to the iPhone) - Mike |

asda, It may well be worth pointing out that you are likely to get the same problem if you let the battery go flat. it normally loses all your installed progs and needing a reinstall. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

Thanks aj,
Is it a good, or bad, idea to slide the main switch to "off" when it's not going to be used for a few hours or a full day?
Mine seems to lose track of the time when it's been turned off with the slider.
Is it worth following the procedure for stopping Active Sync automatically starting up in an effort to conserve battery power?

This has not been the case since the introduction of Persistent Memory Storage in WM5.
If it were a recurring issue, the root cause would be elsewhere.

It boils down to you needs. If it will last in standby mode until you get to mains power then why not. |
