Hi. I have just downloaded the map update for my TT720. It only took 30 mins. It was supposed to go on my empty sd card!! Switched on and it is still showing map 825.2157. If I go into home it is telling me I have 830.2305 on my card. If I check on my computer the card is only showing 4 folders "Ephern" "Maps" "Phone_dat" and Western Europe and 3 files called Connect2jn Any ideas please.

Just an update. If I go to "manage maps" I have 2 Western European maps, select one and it is 825, select the other and it is 830. I was under the impression that TT would boot from the card first?

Have you actually switched maps?
If you told Home to install it to the SD card, it will not have deleted the original map on the internal memory, and the TomTom will continue using that one unless you tell the TomTom otherwise.
To switch between maps, its: Change prefrences/Manage Maps/Switch map.
Unfortunately, if you have downloaded the newer version of the same map as you had, often they will have the same name on th "switch maps" list, unless you change the name of the old one. If this is the case and it annoys you, post back and we can explain how to change the displayed name.
EDIT: I see you've found it.
The x20/x30 and x40 models can use the SD card and the memory TOGETHER. They WILL boot from the card IF there is an operating system on the card.
All you've done is add a map to the card, so the machine is booting from internal memory, but all you need to do is SWITCH MAPS. |

Thanks for the reply and explanation Andy. So can I format the card copy over my backup of 825, connect to home and let home put the new map on the card/ |
