I have TomTom One (New Edition) which I have successfully paired for many months with a Nokia 6230i via Bluetooth for TomTom Traffic.

Suddenly I can't connect any longer.

TT connects to mobile phone, which appears to set up a GPRS connection (the G icon in the Nokia 6230i window).

Get message: unable to set up your wireless data connection. Do you want to set up manually or choose from a list. I set up the connection manually, following the instructions (using two different cell phones).

Eventually, with progress bar on 65%, TT responds with "Unable to set up your wireless data connection. Do you want to change your settings?"

No connection possible.

I'm on Orange UK pay as you go and have tried to connect with another TT One and with another phone handset (Sony Ericsson K510i) (using the same SIM).

Any ideas?

Good luck getting it fixed.

Last October I upgraded my phone (like you I'm on Orange, but contract not PAYG). For about ten or so minutes my GO 730 paired with the new phone and would download data. Then I got a service update SMS and from that day to this it has stopped working.

It does exactly what your set-up is doing. The TomTom and phone pair perfectly and it works as a Handsfree kit but will not ever make a data call. It goes through the motions and the phone looks as if it is calling out but nothing happens. I also have a Dell PDA which cannot make a data call via the phone either (both worked with my old phone). But plug the phone into the laptop via USB and it works fine. So it's not GPRS on the phone, it just doesn't work via Bluetooth.

I went round and round in circles trying to get Orange to sort it. They promised on several occasions to have technical support call me back, calls I am still waiting for!

I seriously doubt anyone at Orange Customer Services that I spoke to had the remotest clue what I was talking about. I did get some progress after writing to them expressing my dissatisfaction with what had (not) happened so far.

That prompted a new handset delivered to me in an attempt to sort the problem. Made not the slightest bit of difference. I have quite frankly given up trying. It took the thick end of 6 months to get the new handset. At that rate by the time Orange get round to fixing it my contract will have run out and I have a suspicion it won't be renewed!

So I just bought a RDS Traffic dongle instead and that appears to work. Actually works far better then one I got free with a 510 in a Currys promotion several years ago that seriously put me off the device. But now I have to wonder if taking out a data subscription for traffic info is really worth it.

Fortunately my TomTom Traffic subscription was virtually over. At least the bit I paid for, they gave me nearly 12 months free because of other problems I had which is still active but since I haven't paid for that I'm not too bothered I'm not using it Smile

I tried using a Vodafone SIM that I use in my Blackberry (the BB can't be used as a modem) in the Nokia. Works fine!

Contacted Orange who blamed it on TomTom.

I think I'll get myself a Vodafone PAYG SIM tomorrow! Orange support is no good at all.

Blaming TomTom was one of the first things they said to me. But that doesn't explain why the Dell PDA won't work either. Both devices worked perfectly fine on my old phone.

I'm beginning to wonder if upgrading was such a good idea. And I am questioning whether when my current contract period expires if I shall be staying with Orange.
