I wonder anyone can take a moment to help me please?

I have just received a Fortuna Clip-On Blue Tooth GPS device from PDAMods with TomTom3 for my IPAQ 4150. I've been unable to get through to them on the phone this afternoon.

What I am in need for is an idiots guide to get the GPS connected to the IPAQ. I have no idea about what drivers to use or what steps to take.

The BT manager is not too helpful, telling me that there is no service that the device is offering. I am totally stuck and can find nothing in any manual.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Ryan,

I don’t have a 4150; you’ll see that I have a 3970. Apart from that we’ve got a similar set-up.

Switch on the Clip-On, go into BT Manager on the 4150 and search for new devices. Keep doing this until it finds the Clip-On. Try to pair with it using the passkey of “0000” (four zeros).

Once paired, leave the BT manager running and start TTNav3, which in turn should start your TT GPS Driver. Set the GPS Driver to:

NMEA 0183v2 38400
Bluetooth Serial Port COM8:

In the TT GPS Driver, ensure that the slider with the PDA is set to the right hand side (TomTom logo) and not the Zzz setting.

This should hopefully get you started. Thumbs Up

Regards,

Surperb. Many thanks for your help...

...your help in setting up the Blue Tooth that I would not have managed on my own and pointing me to the NMEA 0183v2 38400 driver was great.

One difference for anyone with this setup and an iPAQ 4150 is that it is COM6.

Thanks again. TomTom 3 is great! :D Smile

Hi Ryan,

I’m glad that you got your system working. I agree that (so far) TTNav3 is great, although this weekend I’m hoping to try some of the roads that TTNav2 didn’t know about so I’ll find out a bit more later on.

The Fortuna Clip-On is a good GPS receiver, although my first one had to be sent back as it soon developed a problem holding its charge.

Thanks for letting me know about the COM differences between the 3970 and the 4150 that will be useful. Thumbs Up

Regards,
