|
|
I have an iPod cable which I used to use on my TT910 but when I plug it into my new dock for the 940, although it sees I have plugged in my iPhone (I get the message about whether I want to put it in airplane mode), it goes no further. Anyone else successfully using this combination ? _________________ Tony

I don't have an iPhone, but I can confirm that the iPod cable sold for the 910 DOES work with an iPod on the 940.
Obviously you need either the "3 connector" or the GPRS Traffic mount, as the standard mount doesn't have the right socket. |

Yes but IIRC it also wasn't supported on the 910 but did actually work - as with 99% of other iPod accessories that "do not support" the iPhone.
I will borrow an iPod to check this point. _________________ Tony

My iPhone works for music playback via the 940 it's a 3g 16GB version, I haven't used the phone via the 940 unit for calls as yet - Mike |

I do get a warning on the iPhone but the 940 can control the iPod functions, I seem to remember something about setting the speaker for music to lineout for this to work which is what I used. The cable is the one intended for the x10 range which cost £3 from Halfords - Mike |

No, still drawn a blank. I get "please connect your iPod to your TomTom 940 Live to continue". That's with a 3G iPhone, I have also tried my old 2G iPhone which I believe is the one I used to use with the 910 with the same cable.
Really stupid question - I assume I plug the jack plug into the socket that's marked with like a rectangular picture of an iPod, not the other one ? _________________ Tony

I have just been to the car to retry this and it works fine with the 940 on either the accessory dock or the one with the built in RDS-TMC receiver, the cable plugs in to the base of the iPhone, this is the same port you connect the PC Sync lead to when using the device with the PC.
That is the only cable I have connected between the phone and the 940, but I do use the line out socket on the TomTom mount to route the sound to the car decks aux input (this is the second cable supplied in the packet). I don't think it is possible to use anything other than the line out socket when playing audio via the iPOD/ iPhone.
As for the warning the phone issues about going to Flight Mode you can either accept this or disregard it, the TomTom can play the audio and control the iPhone with either option selected.
What method are you trying to output the music from the TomTom
Built in speaker
Line Out
Bluetooth
FM Tx
The one in bold is what I have found to work - Mike |

Just got it working. I hadn't pushed the plug hard enough into the cradle, I had to push it really hard to make it work. Thanks all. _________________ Tony

Is there anywhere that has these for £3 - can't find any in 3 different Halfords...
ETA Product Code 433102 £5.99 appears to have cable from ipod to dock and dock to head unit.
This is the one? |

Yes that's the one. iPod cable and audio patch lead to connect cradle to head unit's Aux-in. _________________ Darren Griffin |
