TomTom GO 730 - £245*
This award-winning device comes with maps of 31 Western and Eastern European countries, and offers advanced navigation and safety features such as Bluetooth® hands-free calling, fixed safety camera alerts, advanced lane guidance and TomTom's unique IQ Routes(tm) intelligent routing system.
TomTom GO 740 LIVE - £274*
A top-of-the-range navigator with a host of useful 'over the air' LIVE Services including real-time traffic information (TomTom HD Traffic), Fuel Price Search, Google Search, fixed and mobile safety camera alerts and five-day weather reports. Also includes seamless maps of 31 European countries, TomTom IQ Routes(tm), advanced lane guidance, as well as full voice command and control.
Preparing for any trip abroad is essential, and TomTom devices offer a number of handy planning tools, features and functions to assist the driver when travelling to Europe.
Sat nav devices are proven to reduce the number of miles driven, and therefore the amount of fuel used, saving the owner money and also reducing CO2 emissions. TomTom's unique IQ Routes(tm) technology is based on the real average speed of roads, and calculates each route according to the specific time of day and day of the week, which means drivers can be sure of the most efficient route for every journey, whether in Margate or Marbella.
Each TomTom sat nav includes a special Help Me! emergency menu, which provides specific safety advice and information on driving laws applicable in different countries. For example, in Portugal, drivers are not permitted to carry a bicycle on the rear of the car, and in Spain, drivers who wear glasses must have a spare pair with them in the car at all times. The Help Me! menu also provides first aid advice from the British Red Cross, as well as essential information such as phone numbers for emergency services and roadside assistance organisations.
With just a few simple instructions, a TomTom sat nav plans the route ahead, and guides the driver to their destination using clear spoken and visual directions - ensuring a more relaxed, hassle-free journey. Safety features such as advanced lane guidance also mean that drivers will never miss a turn or have to make a dangerous lane-change manoeuvre.
In addition, safety camera alerts inform drivers about cameras well in advance, helping drivers stick to the speed limits and avoid hefty speeding fines.
Damian Woodward, sales and marketing manager, TomTom UK, said, "Using a TomTom device during a trip abroad can reduce the stress of driving significantly, ensuring drivers are always prepared for their journey. Rather than worrying about finding their way on unfamiliar roads or stopping to ask for directions in a foreign language, for example, Brits can focus their concentration on driving carefully on the opposite side of the road."
A TomTom sat nav device enables the user to plan an itinerary containing up to 48 locations, meaning the driver does not have to programme the device during the trip, if visiting a number of tourist attractions or different cities.
Damian Woodward added, "Time is precious on holiday, so it's always best to plan ahead. This leaves more time for exploring with the family, and less time spent travelling in the car, which also helps reduce the holiday stress levels!"

Pushing them as Europe for Easter does seem a bit naughty in relation to the 740 though - they don't quite manage to mention that the HD traffic won't work in Europe!!! _________________ Dennis
