|

Hi
My Garmin Quest II got stolen so I have replaced it with a Garmin 278 - I have just renewed my subscription only to find the 278 doesn't appear to be on the list of compatible devices?
Many thanks

I have to admit, I can't find a "278" on Garmin's website!
Here's all the current "in car" ones they list, and it's not on the discontinued list either. I tried a "search" and it didn't find "278" anywhere. (There's a Nuvi 275...)
If it's a Nuvi, I would think it's OK. Does it use their "POI Loader" software to add user-POI's? If so, it's definitely OK. |

From the User Manual it looks as if it will accept custom POIs via POILoader:
"Your GPSMAP 278 accepts custom POI databases, available from various companies on the Internet. Some custom POI databases contain alert information for points such as safety cameras and school zones. Your GPSMAP 278 can notify you when you approach one of these points.
After downloading your POI database, use the Garmin POI loader to install the POIs to your unit. The POI Loader is available at www.garmin.com/extras." _________________ Anita

I've now added the GPSMap 278 to the table of supported devices. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cor.. that was well hidden.. It was under "Marine - chartplotters"! Wonder whytheir own "search" didn't find it?
Anyway, it looks like Anita has answered your question.. it can,
Mind you, there aren't many Speed cams at sea, although you should look out for this one:
