|
|
I recentlly d/l from the Garmin website, the latest map software for my C340. After a few hours of downloading this 2GB file, it seemed to install OK.
Now however, I'm seeing less detail than I did with the older version. I've checked all parameters in tools and everything is still set as it was with the older version. I do have "more detail" selected. I've done a hard reset and still no luck.
Anyone have a clue as to what the problem might be?
Thanks - Jacqie |

I'm only seeing interstate and dual lane state and federal highways. City streets and smaller state roads do not appear.
The GPS also correctly reports the direction that I'm driving, but doesn't show or name the road I'm on. It also seems to take longer to obtain satellites and to hold them. It seems that every two to three minutes it tells me it's obtaining satellites.
I read somewhere that it takes about 45 minutes for the GPS to download certain other info from the satellites. I've been on the road as well as parked in the open with GPS on for much longer than 45 minutes.

On my unit I have to select which map to use. What you describe sounds like your unit currently only uses the base map with only very major roads on it.
Check your settings and set the tick box accordingly. If my assumption is correct, this should solve your problem.

No idea what that might be referring to but it won't download map info from the satellites?
Did you do a backup of the device before upgrading the maps? |

You hit it right on! Although it shows only one map database installed, I still had to tap it to place a check in the box adjacent to it. Now, it seems to be showing everything!
Thanks for your help, and thanks to everyone else who replied.
